Troop 16′s newest Eagle Scouts, Allen Ellis and Trevor Perry, recently took part in the Yankee Clipper Council’s annual Eagle Recognition Banquet.

Both young men organized, managed and worked on significant community projects as part of their Eagle requirements.

Allen compiled a computerized database of veterans’ graves in Danvers and, with the help of his family, friends and fellow scouts, placed American flags on veterans’ graves at Walnut Grove and St. Mary of the Annunciation Cemeteries. For photos of his Eagle project, please click here.

Allen is the son of Robb and Kristen Ellis. His Eagle Court of Honor was held on June 16, 2012, at St. John’s Prep.

Trevor carried out a project to widen and improve a steep path connecting the the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church with the Danvers Rail Trail. With family, friends and fellow scouts, Trevor lined the path with wood chips, placed logs on the sides and installed a hand rail along the steepest section. Members and adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop 16 in Danvers have widened and improved the path leading from the back of Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church parking lot to the new Danvers Rail Trail. On November 19, 2011, and then again on April 14, 2012, the troop spread wood chips, lined the path with felled logs, and installed a hand rail along a steep part of the path.

The project was planned, managed, and carried out by Troop 16 member Trevor Perry as his Eagle Scout project.

The rail trail is not only a recreational resource but also a transportation route. Depending on their proximity to the trail, church members may now ride to Sunday services by bicycle. The church is grateful for the troop’s hard work in turning this vision into reality.
